Association of Cancer Online Resources (ACOR)
A large collection of cancer-related Internet mailing lists, which regularly delivers e-mail messages to provide information and support to cancer patients and those who care for them. ACOR develops and hosts state-of-the-art Internet-based knowledge systems that allow the public to find and use credible information relevant to their illness.

CancerCare

CancerCare is a national nonprofit organization that provides free, professional support services for anyone affected by cancer.

CANCER101

CANCER101 provides planners to cancer patients and their caregivers that help them to stay empowered from the moment of diagnosis through ten years of follow-up care. The planners provide patients with a place to organize their notes and appointments, to find answers to their questions, and most of all, to find hope.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

CDC is a leader in nationwide cancer prevention and control, working with national organizations, state health agencies and other key groups to develop, implement, and promote effective cancer prevention and control practices.

DC Cancer Consortium

A nonprofit, grant-making charity organization dedicated to reducing disproportionately high rates of cancer deaths and diagnoses in the District of Columbia. Through grant funding and collaborative programs, we play a critical role as a comprehensive cancer services clearinghouse for the public and health care professionals.

National Cancer Institute (NCI)

A part of the National Institutes of Health, NCI coordinates the National Cancer Program, which conducts and supports research, training, health information dissemination, and other programs with respect to the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer, rehabilitation from cancer, and the continuing care of cancer patients and the families of cancer patients.

National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship

A survivor-led advocacy organization working on behalf of this country's nearly 10 million cancer survivors and the millions more touched by this disease. Founded in 1986, NCCS continues to lead the cancer survivorship movement. By educating all those affected by cancer and speaking out on issues related to quality cancer care, NCCS is empowering every survivor.


The National LGBT Cancer Network

Mautner Project: Smokeless LGBT DC
Mautner Project offers smoking cessation and can make referrals to national programs providing smoking cessation services to the LGBT community. Mautner Project’s MOVE Program
An exercise and weight loss program created by sexual minority women for sexual minority women. MOVE asks participants to keep a food journal, to participate in a purposeful movement activity on a regular basis and offers an opportunity to openly discuss issues related to weight in a safe, accepting community environment.

National Diabetes Education Program

Aging with Dignity
A national non-profit organization with a mission to affirm and safeguard the human dignity of individuals as they age and to promote better care for those near the end of life. Aging with Dignity introduced Five Wishes in Florida in 1997, and a year later, to the nation. Dubbed “the living will with a heart and soul,” Five Wishes today meets the legal requirements in 42 states and has helped literally millions of people plan for and receive the kind of care they want. The document is available in 26 languages and in Braille.

Caring Connections
A program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), is a national consumer and community engagement initiative to improve care at the end of life. Since 2004 Caring Connections has provided more than 1.3 million advance directives to individuals free of charge.
