The Impact of Butch Identity on Access to Health Care is a qualitative study of butch identified lesbians between the ages of 25-45. The goals of this project are to recruit twenty-four, butch identified lesbians to participate in 3 focus groups throughout the year. Focus group participants will be matched based on racial characteristics (African American, Non-African American). A standardized discussion guide was developed and used for focus each group. This guide addresses butch identity, access and utilization of health care services, and body image. Discussants were consented prior to participation, and all groups were tape-recorded for transcription.
