Mautner Recognizes Congresswoman and Other Leaders
Fighting for Better Health Care for Lesbians

WASHINGTON – The Mautner Project, the National Lesbian Health Organization, will celebrate seventeen years of outstanding service to the lesbian community at its annual gala event Saturday, September 29, 2007 at the Washington Hilton and Towers Hotel. With the Theme of “Love, Strength, and Hope” the Mautner Project will celebrate and honor an array of lesbian activists, LGBT health supporters and some surprise guests.

Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) will be on hand to receive the 2007 Healing Works Award for her courageous leadership in the fight for equal healthcare and LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) rights. Baldwin, a primary supporter of expanded hate crimes legislation, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and full marriage equality for same-sex couples, is also a tireless advocate for equal access to healthcare for all Americans

The Gala will also feature René Hicks, a comedian and cancer survivor, as master of ceremonies. DJs Nan and Cory will provide musical entertainment for the event.

The 17th Anniversary of Mautner Project, the National Lesbian Health Organization, is a celebration and benefit for the Mautner Project. The Mautner Project undertakes to improve the health of lesbians and women who partner with women through advocacy, education, research, and direct service. The Mautner Project envisions a healthcare system that is guided by social justice and responsive to the needs of all people.

Gala tickets are $175 and can be purchased by calling 202.332.5536 or online at www.mautnerproject.org. A sell out crowd is expected. For details or to donate to the auction, purchase an ad, or for sponsorship opportunities, please contact gala@mautnerproject.org.
