Pride

We're Moving!
This June marks the 39th anniversary of the Stonewall rebellion in 1969 - a historic event in which people from across the LGBT spectrum stood together against unfair harassment by police and added fuel to the movement for LGBT equality. As we celebrate the advances we've won since

then and get inspired to continue our work, the Mautner Project remembers that social and political inequality contribute greatly to health inequalities as well. They create stress in our lives and numerous barriers to quality health care. Social justice and health are inextricably linked - so have pride, and take care of your health!

If you're in the DC area, come see us at the following Pride events this weekend:

  • Dyke March, Saturday, June 14, 2 pm, Dupont Circle
  • Capital Pride Parade, Saturday, June 14th, 6:30 pm, Dupont and Logan Circles
  • Capital Pride Festival, Sunday, June 15th, 11 am - 6 pm, Pennsylvania Ave. between 3rd & 7th Streets, NW

Susan G. Komen

Thank You, Susan G. Komen for the Cure!
Mautner Project has received a substantial two-year capacity-building grant from Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This grant will allow us to sustain and build our programs, including expanded capacity for our direct services for clients in DC and

their families, as well as to improve our education and communication efforts by upgrading our website, and improving our database systems. We are gratified by the confidence Susan G. Komen for the Cure has expressed in our organization, and by its understanding of the need for specific programming for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women.

Mautner Project Partners with Project WISH!

The Mautner Project and Project WISH are partnering to increase access to No Cost:

  • Annual mammograms
  • Clinical breast exams
  • Pap tests and pelvic exams
  • transportation to and from exams (for women with limited resources)

If you are a woman between ages 40-64 with limited or no health insurance, please call D. Magrini at 202-332-5536 for more information. Please forward to anyone who might be interested! Spread the word.

The Mautner Project improves the health of lesbians, bisexual, and transgender women who partner with women, and their families, through advocacy, education, research, and direct service. We envision a healthcare system that is guided by social justice and responsive to the needs of all people.
