ENDA Alert!
Early this week, the House of Representatives will vote on an Employment Non- Discrimination Act that does not include gender identity. NOW is the time to contact your representative and ask them to support the Baldwin Amendment to restore these vital protections.

ENDA is for Everyone!
  • Call the Capital Switchboard at (202) 224 - 3121. If you don't know the name of your representative, simply give the operator your zip code.
  • A suggested message: Hello, my name is _____ and I live in your district. I am calling to ask the representative to support the Baldwin amendment to the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. The Baldwin amendment adds gender identity protections back into ENDA and it is critically important to me that all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people are protected by this legislation. This amendment is the only way to fix this bill, and I only support passage of H.R. 3685 if the amendment passes. Thank you.
  • If you can't call, click here to send an email.

  • Where We've Been
The Mautner Project has been getting the word out about lesbian, bisexual, and transgender health across the country! Here are just a few places we've been:

  • Women's Health Advisory Board of Washington, D.C., where we presented Removing the Barriers, our cultural competency training program for health care providers
  • Sunshine Social Services of Fort Lauderdale, FL where we trained over fifty health care providers in Removing the Barriers, and trained even more participants to teach the program in their own communities
  • The National LGBTI Anti-Tobacco Summit in Minneapolis, MN, where we're sharing strategies for counter-marketing and presenting Spirit Health Education Circle, our wellness community for African-American lesbian and bisexual women

  • Get Involved, Get Support
We're currently running the following support groups. For more information or to sign up, call 202.332.5536 or email mautner@mautnerproject.org.

  • S.H.E. Wants You: Spirit Health Education Circle, a wellness community for African-American lesbian and bisexual women, is starting a new circle in D.C.! If you'd like to explore your wellbeing with other women, this is the group for you. Also check out S.H.E. Circle online!
  • Time To Quit: If you've been thinking about quitting smoking, we are here for you. We offer an eight-week smoking sessation support group for all LGBT people and our allies.
  • The Caregiver's Support Group meets on the first Wednesday of every month. The next meeting will be November 7 from 7:00 to 8:30 at the Mautner Project.

  • The Mautner Project improves the health of lesbians, bisexual, and transgender women who partner with women, and their families, through advocacy, education, research, and direct service. We envision a healthcare system that is guided by social justice and responsive to the needs of all people.
